Regulations

To promote the objectives of the Society and for its effective functioning in various parts of the country, the EC may identify appropriate ‘zones’ depending upon the size of its membership (at least 25 members) in that geographical area. The activities within each such zone shall be managed by a Zonal Executive Committee which shall comprise of the following:

1.Zonal President 1
2.Zonal Secretary 1
3.Members as required by the zone. 
The term of office for the Zonal President will be one year and for all others, three years. No office bearer shall hold the same office for more than two consecutive terms.

FUNCTIONS OF ZEC
i. Each Zonal Executive Committee shall carry out its activities in accordance with the objectives of the Society and will assist the EC in effective functioning.
ii. The Zonal President shall preside over all the zonal meetings and shall provide guidance and direction for furthering the aims and objectives of the Society.
iii. The zonal Secretary will have administrative charge of the zonal office and shall be responsible for the maintenance of the zonal, routine correspondence, preparation and circulation of Zonal Committee meetings and maintenance of the zonal funds in accordance with the directives from the Executive Committee.


  • The EC in office will appoint an Election Officer from amongst its Life Members to conduct elections for the vacant positions of the EC. The Election Officer shall invite nominations for elections to various vacant positions of the EC on the prescribed form by the end of September every year and the election process shall be completed by the first week of November every year.
  • The right to vote and hold office shall be restricted to the Life Members only.
  • Elections shall be held through an online process. Any Life Member of the General Body will be eligible for nomination to only one post. The winning candidate will be declared based on a simple majority. In the case of a tie, the winner will be decided by draw of lots.
  • ZEC elections will also be carried out in the manner described above for the EC. The right to vote and hold office shall be restricted to the Life Members of the concerned zone.

    The Executive Committee in its meeting held on August 13, 2023 modified the present structure of membership fee as follows:

      I. Annual Membership fee:
          Rs. 500 (Indian) / U.S. $15 (SAARC Countries)/ U.S. $30 (All other countries)

      II. Life Membership fee:
          Rs. 3000 (Indian) / U.S. $50 (SAARC Countries)/ U.S. $100 (All other countries)

      III. Institutional Membership:
            Rs. 20,000 (Indian) / U.S. $1000 (Other countries)

All the members are entitled to receive the Bulletin of the Society free of charge and other publications of the Society on concessional rates as decided by the EC. They will also be entitled to get the discounted Registration fee in such conferences/ workshops organized in association with the ISMMACS. Institutional Members can depute two members from their organizations for such conferences and they will also be entitled for discounted registration fee.

The Society will recognize outstanding achievements of its Life Members by the award of Fellowship. Any Fellow of the Society in good standing may nominate person(s) with outstanding achievements in mathematical modelling/ computer simulation for the award of Society’s fellowship. If the person is not a member of the Society, he/she has to take Life membership of the Society before his/her nomination. These nominations will be scrutinized and recommended to EC for approval by a ‘Committee of Fellows’ that shall be constituted by the EC from time to time.

To recognize contributions of its young researchers (A researcher less than 40 years as on the 31st December of the year in which the nominations are made), the Society will honor as Young Associate Fellow, with a certificate, every year to its Life Members. JBS Medal (as instituted by Prof. J. B. Shukla) will be awarded every year to any researcher making significant contribution in mathematical modelling.

The Society will recognize lifetime contributions of any academician working in the area of mathematical modelling/ computer simulation with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

The number of Fellows/ Young Associate Fellows will be decided by the EC every year.

The methodology for the award of Fellowships, Young Associate Fellow, JBS Medal and Lifetime Achievement Awards will be decided by the EC.

The General Secretary with one of the Joint Secretaries shall scrutinize and approve the applications for all categories of membership as per the provisions of the Constitution. All new Members as approved by the General Secretary will be reported to the EC. The EC shall have the right to reject any application without stating reasons.
